The reason one should groom his/her Dog is simple. Your dogs physical state influences the way he feels, and the way you look at your dog. Extreme cases, where lack of care, cleaning, and grooming, can directly affect the behavior of your Dog. Believe it or not, it is not a rare thing to find this going on. It is a sad thing because people do not realize how much this can affect, not only the view of your furry friend, but his over all emotions.
You put yourself in that situation for a minute. How would you feel going around without a shower, trimming your beard, shaving your legs, or not washing your hair. I don’t think any of us would feel great about that, and it is NO different for our dog.
The First Step
Proper grooming not only infuses a healthy glow to your dog’s appearance, but also helps develop his self-esteem; while it makes you a very proud parent, when you show off your Dog to others.
The first step involved in dog grooming is, Brushing your pals coat or fur, whichever you prefer to call it.
Brushing has been universally acknowledged by expert dog groomers as the single most important step in grooming.
There are so many advantages and over all health into brushing.
Here are three examples, just to name a few.
- Better blood circulation
- Shinier and healthier coat
- Better bonding and companionship

Yes, there is a method to follow while brushing your Dog.
Five Steps To Successful Brushing
When we are brushing or combing our dogs coat we want to make sure that we are going about it the right, and correct, way. Yes there is a right and a wrong way. Here are a few examples of the way you should go about brushing or combing.
Brush against the growth of the hair first. A medium or wide-toothed comb will help take care of the badly tangled fur. A slicker brush will remove all of the lose hair.
After you Brush your Dog along the hair growth make sure you can reach the skin as you brush.
Then use a flea comb over the coat to get the fleas and remove any remaining tangles. Part the coat and start from the root. Then you can comb all the way through.
If your dogs paw pads are hairy, then clip them using electric clippers. DO NOT clip the hair in between the pads. Clip ONLY the excess hair.
Prevent Tangles And Matting
Brush your dogs hair to prevent it from matting. Matting can be a very painful experience and we do not want that. Take some time to think about this for a second. Don,t you want your companion to be happy, and be able to enjoy every living moment with you?
Brushing regular will keep the tangles and matting from occurring. Since this is a risky job to do, the best way out is to prevent them from forming in the first place. Doing this is simple. If and when you see any mats or tangles, use a detangle solution and a medium-toothed comb. Remember, brushing regularly will prevent this, for the most part, from occurring in the first place.
It does not take a lot of time to accomplish this. Once you have done this it becomes easy. Brushing will be quicker and it does start becoming second nature to do this.
Make It A Source Of Affection
Do not wait until your Dog is dirty or matted to introduce him to grooming. That would make him associate the experience with unpleasantness and then it will make things difficult for the both of you.
If you make it routine for your pal and do it the correct way your furry friend will look at it like it’s another form of affection and attention. That is exciting don’t you think?
